Stay safe

There are a number of practical things you can do to make sure you stay safe whilst you are away:

Out and About

  • Where possible do not walk alone especially on the streets at night.
  • If you have to be out at night stay in well lit areas where there are others around
  • Never look lost / confused. Always walk and behave confidently.
  • Avoid travelling in poorly lit trainĀ carriages. On SleeperĀ trains, keep the door to your compartment locked.
  • Avoid public demonstrations.
  • Do not draw attenion to yourself.
  • Do not wear 'flashy' jewelry / watches

Travelling

  • Travel by Motorbike, Scooter or Moped is particularly high risk. Wear a helmet at all times regardless of the law in that country.
  • Where possible try to ensure that seat belts are fitted in all vehicles / buses. Always wear a seatbelt where fitted.
  • Drive well within the speed limits taking into account the standard of driving and local road conditions.
